It is good taste, and good taste alone, that possesses the power to sterilize and is always the first handicap to any creative functioning.

If anyone is into dream analysis, shoot me a message. Had a rather convoluted lucid dream the night before last, still trying to wrap my head around it.

New faces, new places. Took a two night camping trip with the girls to Frontier Outpost, a little campground off of I-10 near Enchanted Rock. Bouldering and exploring by day, Johnny Cash covers at the general store by night. The whole establishment was run by a few seen-it-all, outlaw-country-worshiping cowboys with hearts of gold; it was overwhelmingly Texan in an endearing sort of way. Russian folk songs, midnight campfire chats with our neighbors, and a coal-roasted dinner made last night one for the record books.

Apologies for the frequent absence of this blog. I could blame it on the fact that the tumblr app stopped working on my phone, but honestly I’ve just been busy & I’ve moved my procrastination habits over to instagram. Someday I will actually use the queue feature. Until then, I’ll proceed with these obnoxious post dumps at 11pm. Sorry y’all.

A weekend of farewells. Love ya, Uncle. You’ve still got your spirit.

I texted my friend JayTee complaining about our AP Bio final tomorrow.
She responded with this.
I’ve got really great friends, guys.

suggestions, please!

I’ve got a hospital-bound friend in need of cheering up.

I plan on using my childhood sticker collection (approximately 1000-2000 stickers, I had a bit of a hoarding problem) to coat a ridiculous and useless object to place in his hospital room. I’d prefer if this object was something that I might be able to find around my house, or at least something that I could pick up at a convenience or grocery store on the way to school tomorrow. Suggest objects that can be coated with stickers!

The crazier the object, the better. Thanks in advance!

The past week has consisted of me panicking about my work load, attempting to do work, then giving up and settling down to enjoy a glass of wine and read Infinite Jest before realizing that I’m completely behind on everything and restarting the whole process.

Bad coping methods 101, aka senior year.

Now I’m off to coat a bunch of plates and maybe attempt to mix some acid for all these damned etchings that need to be done within the next week.

over-excited gpoy with zinc plates
I’m about to order all the materials to set up an acid bath for hard ground etchings on my porch. I emailed my etching instructor from pre-college and got all of the safety info about mixing nitric acid. So stoked. I’ve been in a bit of a downtrodden, nostalgic state since leaving New York, I just miss the city and being in the studio. At least this way I can start getting some work done and prep for (hopefully) heading to college there in a year.

It’s half-past midnight here, and I’m up worrying about a pigeon I (unsuccessfully) attempted to rescue earlier. I’m also fretting about concepts and art and how much I’m dreading my silkscreen class tomorrow, but that’s another story altogether.
The poor bird had a wire wrapped around his leg and could barely walk. I ended up sitting on the sidewalk with him while I waited for my roommate to come back with a towel so I could cover him and safely remove the wire from his foot without stressing him out too much. I was approached by a few well-meaning business men on their way home from the office who asked if I was alright. The first was rather confused and slightly appalled when I informed him I was watching over the injured pigeon; the second was intrigued and stuck around for awhile to chat after reminding me that the ground was very dirty.
Long story short, my roommate brought a small wash rag instead of my bath towel, which was the size I needed for the job. I definitely blame myself for not specifying. The pigeon managed to fly away, albeit crookedly and with quite a bit of effort, and I wasn’t able to get the wire off of his foot. I’ve spent the rest of the night beating myself up about it because I used to have a pet pigeon, so I’ve had experience wrangling birds into towels in order to clip their claws before. Because of this, I feel guilty as hell for not succeeding.
If anyone sees a pigeon with a wire around his leg in the Gramercy area of New York City, send me a message on here! I know this is a long shot, but trying to locate where he is will give me some peace of mind.

I desperately need to find an urbex buddy while I’m in NYC. My roommates are hesitant about even leaving the dorms, somehow I doubt they’ll be up for venturing into abandoned buildings.
